We head to the way infamous white marker post and not a soul in sight for a quick photo shoot. A quick change into our British Heart Foundation T shirts brrr it aint half fresh ! luckily two American tourists appear and take our photos.
No time to waste we hit the road and head to Penzance. Loads of wild flowers line the roadside verges and not many tall trees! Stunted by the strong winds.
We pick up the coastal footpath in Penzance and with the wind behind us we head east along the coast towards St Michaels mount. Onto the beach the tide still hides the causeway so we head for our first Cornish pasty in Marazion. The weather continues to improve and a strong wind pushes us cross country past fields of daffodils and new potatoes. Time for lunch at Trelissick Gardens to eat our first pasty and coffee. Refuelled we head to King Harry ferry (a chain driven ferry ) that crosses the Fal estuary.
The bikes are running well, nice n smooth our first steep climb up from the estaty I'm in front setting the pace and Charles is chief navigator. Onto St Austel we find a large Asda for a food shop and pick up tea and breakfast for the YHA at Golant.
