Day 3 - Mortonhampstead to Glastonbury

Well it's day 3 and after a night in Mortonhampstead in a backpackers we breakfasted early and left for Glastonbury straight into a steep climb with amazing views back over the Devon countryside.
On a bike you notice more than ever the wild flowers and hedgerows are coming alive with spring colour, blue bells, beech leaves unfolding and birds of every type.
Our first stop was Exeter where we planned to meet my first cousin Peter who I hadn't see for over 3 years. Pete who is a keen cyclist quickly guided us to the quayside where we sat in the sun and chatted over a morning coffee. After a short stop Pete guided us up a one way street and back onto our route out of Exeter, it was a busy road so we stuck to the cycle paths for a short while until we got back onto the country roads.
We soon reached Broadhembury where two other End to End cyclist who we had passed earlier in other day were sat chatting. We also met two young girls that were taking 3 weeks supported to do the same trip. Our next hill was a grade 3 slope and the rain had started.
Lunch was at 2.00pm in Stoke St Mary a cute little village with thatched roofed cottages and the Half Moon pub where we sat and ate our salami sandwiches. Next stop was a town called Sommerton and then onto Glastonbury.
After cycling 74 miles in 5.5 hrs we're now Booked into our backpackers for the night, but the forecast is for heavy rain tomorrow so will be getting an early start in the morning, hoping to visit Wells cathedral before heading to Dursley and staying with Charlie's cousin Jonty for the start of day 4.
